This was a massive transformation – the sunken den was filled in with concrete and rebar to make it all one level. We laid about 900 sq’ of 18×18 travertine tile including the adjoining kitchen, hallway and office. The fireplace was clad in stone with a glass mantle. Finally we added some new built-in bookcases to separate the dining room and den area. A neutral wall color (Kestrel White) and bright white semigloss on all the trim lifts this previously masculine gray room into a wonderful warm entertaining space.
Depressing original gray brick fireplace was totally transformed with travertine columns and hearth, and a stunning slate pattern for the center section. New Freise carpet and repainting gives this large room a very cozy feel. WOW !![divider]
We love to update the entryway of a home by changing out the old wood spindles to wrought iron spindles with accents. New carpet, restaining the banisters and a fresh coat of paint is an easy way to bring high-end style into your home for small cost. [divider]
Possibly the most dramatic change to a living room we have done …. the old wood floors in this modest home could not be salvaged, so new hardwood flooring was laid along with new texture / paint. The opening reveals the far dining area and brings this home firmly into the 21st century!
We completely opened up this large living area by removing the existing door and windows, and adding an extension for the new breakfast area. The old kitchen “pass-through” was then greatly enlarged to accommodate a new granite breakfast bar. The perfect space for entertaining !!
We converted this ‘add-on’ extension to be fully integrated with the existing living area. In addition, we knocked out the old windows and installed 4 new picture windows to give an open view of the back garden. Note the soft arches in the ‘after’ photo. A truly wonderful conversion for the lucky new owners 🙂
