One of the most significant challenges of this remodel was removing two large load-bearing walls that previously divided the kitchen and dining area. To achieve the open plan the homeowners desired, we had to install custom-engineered LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) support beams. These beams ensured the structural integrity of the home while allowing us to completely reimagine the layout, providing the client with the wide, airy kitchen of their dreams.
With the walls gone, we could design a stunning, spacious kitchen where functionality and style go hand in hand. The flow between the kitchen and dining area is now seamless, creating a hub for the homeowners to enjoy cooking, eating, and socializing, all in one beautifully designed space.
Elegant Cabinetry and Countertops
The cabinetry and countertops we selected were pivotal in giving the kitchen a fresh, modern look. The homeowner chose a combination of J&K cabinetry, with gray shaker base cabinets paired with white shaker upper cabinets, which added depth and contrast to the space. These cabinets not only provide ample storage but also enhance the kitchen’s sleek aesthetic with their clean lines and contemporary design.
Topping the cabinets, we installed luxurious White Carrera (Calcutta Supreme) quartz countertops. These 3cm custom quartz slabs add an element of elegance and sophistication to the kitchen, and their durability ensures they’ll remain beautiful for years to come. The bright, natural tones of the quartz also reflect light, making the kitchen feel even more open and inviting.
Stylish Backsplash and Lighting
The kitchen’s transformation wouldn’t be complete without its striking backsplash and updated lighting system. We installed a gray marble subway tile backsplash that complements the cabinetry and countertops. To ensure the space was well-lit, we installed 22 recessed LED ceiling lights throughout the kitchen and dining area. These energy-efficient lights create a bright, welcoming atmosphere perfect for cooking and entertaining. Additionally, we added undercabinet LED lighting, providing both task lighting for meal prep and a soft, ambient glow that enhances the kitchen’s warmth in the evenings.
High-End Appliances and Unique Features
The kitchen now features all-new stainless steel appliances, chosen for their functionality and sleek appearance. But one of the most unique aspects of this remodel is the custom “coffee bar” area. We designed this cozy nook to include double pantries for extra storage, making it the ideal spot for the homeowner to start their mornings or entertain guests with fresh coffee.
Another standout feature is the sleek, modern black resin sink paired with a Kohler faucet. This bold choice in the sink design adds a pop of contrast, giving the kitchen a touch of industrial chic while maintaining its overall elegance.
