At Millwood Remodeling & Design, we recently completed one of our most ambitious and elegant bathroom remodels to date. From the intricate tile work to the heavy glass installation, this project was both a design and technical challenge—but the results are truly stunning.
Creating the Perfect Zero-Threshold Shower
The highlight of this remodel was the creation of a true zero-threshold shower, a design that eliminates the need for a step or lip at the entrance of the shower. This type of construction requires extreme precision to ensure proper water drainage and smooth transitions between the wet and dry areas. The shower features a 1/2-inch slope that directs water to a 10-foot linear drain seamlessly integrated into the back wall. Not only does this design look sleek and modern, but it also provides an accessible and functional shower experience.
Luxurious Airbath Installation
The centerpiece of the bathroom is a stunning airbath made from acrylic resin. This tub is not only a luxurious feature, but it also added a logistical challenge, as it weighs a significant amount. Moving this beautiful piece into place required careful planning and expert handling, but the result is a striking focal point that enhances the overall luxury of the space.
Precision Tile Work and Glass Installation
The attention to detail throughout this project is what sets it apart. The walls of the shower were covered with 24” x 48” porcelain tiles, requiring our team to work with extraordinary precision. The sheer size of these tiles meant that every cut and alignment had to be perfect—and our experienced crew delivered exactly that.
One of the final, and perhaps most challenging, elements of this remodel was the installation of a massive glass panel measuring 48 inches wide by 96 inches tall. This 1/2-inch thick tempered glass weighed an impressive 300 pounds, and our crew carried it up three flights of stairs to ensure it was safely and perfectly installed. The resulting barrier gives the shower a clean, modern look while showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the entire space.
