The Challenge: Revamping a Dated 1980’s Builder’s Bathroom
Originally, the space was a quintessential 1980’s builder’s bathroom. It was cramped, outdated, and far from the stylish, functional haven our clients desired. The bathroom needed a complete gut renovation and also required a strategic expansion to accommodate the custom elements our clients envisioned.
Our Innovative Approach: Expanding and Redefining the Space
We began by pushing out the bathroom walls by approximately 18 inches. This expansion was crucial in transforming the area into a spacious 10’ x 8’ “wet area,” a modern design concept that emphasizes openness and fluidity. Within this space, we installed 8-foot high frameless glass to encapsulate two high-end shower systems with rainshower heads, providing a spa-like experience that’s both luxurious and functional.
At the center of the finished bathroom is a stunning freestanding soaker tub, strategically placed to serve as the focal point of the room and to create a serene retreat for relaxation. To complement this, we added a 7-foot linear drain and large format tiles (15×30 inches), enhancing the contemporary aesthetic while ensuring practicality and ease of maintenance.
Lighting and Vanity: Enhancing Ambiance and Utility
No modern bathroom remodel is complete without strategic lighting, and this project was no exception. We installed recessed LED lighting to illuminate the space evenly, creating a bright and inviting environment throughout the whole bathroom space. A standout feature is the large LED mirror equipped with a dimmer and a defogger, ensuring functionality meets modern luxury.
The new floating vanity not only adds to the contemporary feel but also maximizes the sense of space. It’s complemented by white porcelain vessel sinks with sleek wall faucets, enhancing the clean lines and modern look of the bathroom. Under cabinet LEDs were added to subtly highlight the stylish gray floor tile, adding a layer of warmth and sophistication to the space.
