Hardwood Flooring
(Finish in place, aka nail down)
Solid oak flooring has been popular for over 200 years. Oak is a wonderful material for flooring and extremely hard wearing. Usually ¾” thick in widths from 2.25” to 7” and available in red or white oak, it can be stained in virtually any color, and the finish sheen from satin to gloss. Of course, it can be refinished many times and you can even change colors completely. Oak comes in different grades and can be smooth or handscraped (with the grain, or across the grain). It takes a little longer to install and the areas have to be completely free of furniture for about 10 days. The final stain and polyurethane take a couple of days after the wood has been laid and acclimated. However, for an incredible first-class look to your home there is no better choice.
Benefits
- Increases home value
- Infinite color and sheen options available
- Strong and durable – great for kitchens and bathrooms
- The most high-class product
- Stair treads can be matched easily
Hardwood Flooring
(Engineered)
Engineered hardwood flooring is one of the most popular choices in flooring. Who doesn’t love the look and feel of hardwood flooring? It comes in a variety of types such as maple, oak, walnut or cherry. Its versatility and quality make it a desirable flooring option for many homebuyers. Engineered hardwoods are fast to install and you can treat one room at a time, allowing moving and rearranging furniture easily.
Benefits
- Increases home value
- Many options available
- Strong and durable
- Fast installation
- Generally 10-15% less than finish-in-place hardwoods
Tile Flooring
The most popular choice in moisture-prone areas such as kitchens and bathrooms is porcelain or travertine tile. Unlike the 70’s and 80’s, tile is now normally installed with only 1/16” grout lines and prefinished grout mix which doesn’t change color and contains sealer plus anti-microbial products to avoid dirt and mold. Tile also has a lot of heat-resistant qualities and can be used near fireplaces, furnaces, and other sources of heat. Tile also comes in different types of materials such as ceramic, porcelain, quarry and mosaic. Tile is a beautiful way to incorporate different shapes and designs into your flooring and will improve the look of any area.
Benefits
- Waterproof
- Durable
- Long-lasting
- Large format tile up to 24” x 48” in many styles
- Easy to keep clean
Carpet
Carpet is a favorite choice for households, especially in bedrooms and sometimes in living areas. Carpet comes in a variety of colors, materials and textures. It is the most cost-effective flooring option on the market. Perfect for stairs, much better grip for elderly people and children
Benefits
- Soft and warm on feet
- Visually warms up the space
- Multiple colors, materials and designs available
- Great for soundproofing
- Stain-resistant varieties exist
- Great for bedrooms
- Moisture barrier pad stops pet and accidental spills smells
- Usually lowest cost option
