One of Our Best Home Remodels
We recently had the privilege of working on a remarkable project that perfectly exemplifies our commitment to crafting exceptional spaces. This ’80s home suffered from a significant disconnect between its large main living area and its kitchen/dining areas, coupled with an outdated master bath.
One of the main challenges we tackled was the removal of walls and doors to create a seamless flow between the spaces. With varying ceiling heights throughout the home – a vaulted ceiling in the dining room, an 8 ft flat ceiling in the kitchen, and a 10 ft ceiling in the living room – we faced a formidable task. To achieve a harmonious 9 ft ceiling throughout the new large kitchen/dining area, we removed all dividing walls and installed double LVL support beams with joist hangers. Simultaneously, we retained the den’s 10 ft ceiling, which beautifully accommodated the new design with decorative beams framing the room.
In addition to restructuring the interior, we undertook the challenging task of jacking out the slab to relocate drains and plumbing to a spacious new island. The final touch in this grand transformation was the replacement of all the flooring with solid oak hand-scraped flooring, providing a stunning, cohesive backdrop to the entire home. This project remains one of our most dramatic and favorite transformations to date, showcasing our ability to reimagine homes and turn them into modern masterpieces.
A Master Bathroom Remodel and Redesign
In the same project, we took on the 1970s-era master bathroom, and the results were nothing short of breathtaking. We began by removing all outdated elements such as wallpaper, vanities, and the old tub, and demolishing the cramped shower to create an expansive, inviting space.
The pièce de résistance in this bathroom is the expansive new shower, complete with frameless glass and a comfortable bench seat. Featuring an exposed faucet and hand spray, the 60″ freestanding acrylic tub adds a modern and luxurious touch. The most striking element in this bathroom is the massive wall of 12×24 tiles, seamlessly laid with 1/16” grout lines. The shower base incorporates a flat pebble design, adding a natural and earthy feel to the space.
We installed a double vanity with abundant drawers and cabinets for convenient towel storage, and it’s worth mentioning that this bathroom boasts the largest mirror we’ve ever installed. The combination of modern fixtures, timeless design, and expert craftsmanship has left our client with a stylish and inviting master bathroom that they adore.
